Acorn ornamentsAcorn ornaments are meant to look like giant acorns from an oak tree that have been turned into birdhouses. I generally use cherry, beech, birch, honey locust or ambrosia maple for the seed part of the acorn and black walnut or blak walnut burl for the husk part. The perches are made out of Macasser ebony, cocobolo, black palm or bocote. The final size of the ornament is about 2.5" to 3" in length and 1.25" in diameter. The acorns are hollow so they weigh 1/2 to 3/4 of an ounce. | ||
