The antique style of peppermill is designed to look like an old fashioned coffee grinder. The updated antique mechanism that we use includes a larger reservoir for peppercorns and a ceramic grinder. These updated “antique style” mills can be used as either salt or pepper grinders. The mechanisms are available with horizontal or vertical grinder handles. For the salt and peppermill sets, we combine a vertical handle and a horizontal handle so that the buyer can easily distinguish the salt and peppermills. The coarseness of the grind is adjusted by the knob on the top. We use a variety of local and exotic hardwoods as well as Spectraply to make the peppermill bodies. Spectraply consists of laminated thin layers of dyed birch. Antique peppermills are popular gift items.
